Signs of Labor and Delivery

Mom, I’m almost there! I can’t wait to be very close to you, stay in your lap, and be loved by you, Dad, and the whole family!

Giving birth to a baby is showing the world the loving face of the Creator!

The signs that the time of delivery is approaching can be different for each woman and from one pregnancy to another. If it is the first child, in general, the labor takes longer.

Some signs that indicate that the time of delivery is approaching:

  • Pain that starts in the back and goes to the lower part of the belly.
  • A large loss of water through the vagina happens when the water bag that surrounds the baby breaks.
  • Contractions are when the belly gets hard and then softens. They start slowly and get stronger and more frequent.

If you live near the facility where you will deliver your baby, you can wait until the contractions happen every 10 minutes.

If you live far away, arrange your trip earlier or stay in a location closer to where you will deliver the baby.

Check with a relative or friend who can take care of your house and other children while you are out.

Remember to take to the facility where you will have your baby:

  • your pregnancy card or notebook, if you have it;
  • your ID or other documents;
  • some clothes for you and the baby.

When the baby is born through normal delivery, they are more active, and you will recover faster. C-sections should only be done in cases of need.
