It is possible to reduce the sudden deaths of babies by more than 70%. Sudden death is one that happens unexpectedly, when the baby is sleeping, and has no apparent explanation.
For this, advise parents to:
- Put the baby to sleep on his back.
- Breastfeeding: until the 6th month, give only breast milk.
- Do not smoke or let people smoke inside your home, especially during pregnancy and in the presence of small children.
- Do not wrap the baby too tightly.
- Leave pillows, toys, cushions, and other soft objects out of the crib.
The baby needs a safe place to sleep, preferably calm and fresh. If the house is in a place that has mosquitoes or gnats, it is good to cover the place where the baby sleeps with a mosquito net or curtain.
