How to create inks

  •  Beet water paint (garnet or pink)

 Material: beetroot and water

How to do it: enjoy the water in which the beets have been cooked. For the color of the paint to become stronger, cook with less water. You can add any glue to thicken it. In case you have beetroot that is not good for eating, you can make the ink with the beetroot itself, beaten or mashed in water and then sieved.

  • Indigo ink (blue color)

Material: indigo tablet, water, glue, flour or flour.

How to do it: dissolve the indigo tablet in water, put a little glue or thicken it with flour or flour, taking it to the fire.

  • Avocado pit ink

 Material: avocado seed, water, cloth.

How to do it: Cut the avocado pit into small pieces, then pound or grind. Spread what has been pounded or ground in the air to brown it. Then put it in a bowl, add a little water to avoid a clear paint and squeeze with a cloth.

  • Charcoal ink (black or gray color)

Material: charcoal, water, sieve or piece of cloth.

How to do it: pound the coal a lot. Then mix plenty of water into the powder, sieve or strain through a cloth. Let it rest for two hours. Carefully discard the water from above and add some glue.

  • Stone paint (various colors)

Material: water and stones of various colors (each region has its own).

How to do it: punch the stone a lot until it turns to dust. Then sieve, mix water, shake, and let it rest for two hours. Carefully discard the water from above and add a little glue to help thicken it. If you want to accentuate the color, add a little cooking oil.

  • Earth paint

Material: earth, fine sieve, cloth strainer, old cloth.

How to do it: to make earth paint, it is important to see if it is muddy, if it has "alloy" or "sticks". Land with a lot of sand will not do. It serves the tabatinga or common earth that can be found in various colors. Take a piece of earth and tamp it down well. Sift through a fine sieve several times, mix water, stir well and strain this mixture through a cloth strainer. Throw away the sand, put the strained water in a glass. Let the muddy water rest for two days so that the clay sinks to the bottom, separating from the water; this is called decanting. On the second day, carefully discard the water so as not to mix again. Remove the clay from the glass, put it on a piece of cloth and put it in the sun to drain a little. Then put the “clay” in a plastic container, add a little water and glue. If you want to accentuate the color, add a little cooking oil.

  • Simple earth paint (various colors)

 Material: earth and water.

How to do it: It is not necessary to decant (remove the sand) to make this paint. All you need to do is mix water with the earth and, if you want, add glue. The ink is ready.

  • Annatto ink (orange or red depending on the type of plant)

Material: 2 spoons of annatto seeds, 1 glass of water, 1 very shallow spoon (soup) of flour or wheat flour or 1 teaspoon of glue, 1 teaspoon of cooking oil.

How to do it: mix the seeds with the water and cook well, then thicken with the flour or flour dissolved in a little water. Remove from heat and add glue and oil, mixing well.

  • Gouache paint

Material: 2 tablespoons of plaid powder paint, 1 small spoon of plaster, 1 small spoon of white glue or gum arabic, enough water.

How to do it: mix the paint with glue or gum, then the water and finally the plaster
