Lice, Scabies

Lice

Lice are parasites that lay eggs (nits) in the hair. These eggs are white, small, and don't come off easily.

They are very itchy. If the child has lice, advise the mother to pass a lice fine-tooth comb through their hair every day, after washing it, using the medication prescribed by the doctor. You also need to take care of the bath towel and bedding, and make sure the people who take care of the child don't have lice as well.

 To prevent lice contamination from spreading, you need to:

  • take care of hygiene and bathe every day;
  • keep hair clean;
  • change clothes every day;
  • do not use someone else's comb;
  • avoid borrowing a hat or a cap for the child.

   Domestic Accidents

You should never:

  • Use insecticide to kill lice, because it can cause severe poisoning to the child;
  • Place a plastic bag on the child's head as it can cause suffocation.

Scabies

Scabies appears in the form of reddish bumps that form a tunnel under the skin. They appear all over the body, especially between the fingers, armpits, waist, buttocks, and genitals, causing a lot of itching.

Contamination happens through contact with the skin or objects of people with scabies, such as personal clothes, towels, or bedding.

It takes the right medication to get rid of scabies. During treatment, clothes, including bedding and bath towels, must be washed and ironed very hot, in addition to being changed every day. Leaving clothes to dry in the hot sun also helps.

It's good to clean children's nails to remove the parasites that stay there when they scratch and avoid recontamination. If someone else in the family has scabies, everyone needs to be treated at the same time.

Daily bathing with soap and water, washing the head, and wearing clean clothes help to prevent contamination from lice, scabies, and other skin diseases.

 Domestic accidents

If the child bathes in a bathtub or a deep basin, someone must always be around to avoid drowning.
