Food poisoning or poisoning and drowning

 Children are very curious, and childhood accidents, especially domestic accidents, are common and deserve special attention from parents or caregivers. Leader, it is good to talk to the family about some precautions to prevent these accidents from happening. A very important guideline is to tell parents that a child should not take care of another child, as the risk of an accident is greater in this situation.

Some tips to avoid intoxication or poisoning are simple and can be applied in everyday life. Instruct the family to:

  • keep cleaning products and medications out of the child's reach;
  • never switch cleaning products from their normal packaging to another packaging, such as plastic bottles. The child may be confused;
  • when you need to give medication to the child, don't say it's candy or sweet;
  • be careful with plants that can be toxic.

Leader, if intoxication occurs, they should immediately go to the nearest health service, preferably one that is for emergencies, also taking the package of the product or what caused the intoxication. This makes the treatment faster and more efficient. Vomiting should not be provoked, as there is a risk of the child aspirating it and causing pneumonia.

 To prevent drowning, parents should be advised not to leave their children unattended.

 At home, right after use, you need to throw the water out of buckets and containers. Washing ponds are also dangerous, as are rivers and pools. Therefore, it takes a lot of attention from parents or those who take care of the child.

 Leader, it's also good to talk with the family about the risk of the child swallowing objects or small foods, which, if they go to the lungs, can cause severe pneumonia. It is also good to be careful with chewing gum (tablets), popcorn, candies (sweet), lollipops, and coins.
